Help Sheet for creating and modifying ViDeNet Zones.
1. Please list the last name of the person who will be responsible for administering this zone.
2. Please list the first name of the person who will be responsible for administering this zone.
3. Please enter the first line of business address information for the zone administrator.
4. Please enter the second line of business address information for the zone administrator.
5. Please enter the city for the zone administrator.
6. Please enter the state for the zone administrator.
7. Please enter the country for the zone administrator.
8. Please enter the postal code for the zone administrator.
9. Email address of the zone administrator
10. Telephone number of the zone administrator. Please provide all necessary information for international dialing.
11. Please create and enter a username for future logins.
12. Please create and enter a password.
13. Please re-enter this same password.
14. Please select a password cue category which will assist you in receiving your password should you forget it.
15. Please select a password cue category which will assist you in receiving your password should you forget it.
16. Last name of the secondary contact. The secondary contact should be someone in some way closely associated with the zone (department head, manager, etc.) who can be contacted in the absence of the zone administrator.
17. First name of the secondary contact.
18. Email of the secondary contact.
19. Telephone number of the zone administrator. Please provide all necessary information for international dialing.
20. Please create a name for your ViDeNet zone. This should be a short, simple name, easily identifiable with your institution and the purposes of your zone. Examples U.C. Berkeley Research Zone, or Evergreen State College Production Zone.
21. Please give the full name of your institution. This URL should link to your institution's main Web page.
22. Please provide a complete URL for your institution. Example: http://www.vide.net.
23. Please write a short description (fifty words or less) of your zone, describing who will be using your zone and for what purpose(s).
24. Please write a short (200 words or less) rational for your organization to become a part of ViDeNet. Describe what your organization does, and how it intends to utilize ViDeNet.
25. If you can provide a URL to your institutional logo, we will link this to your ViDeNet information.
26. ViDeNet provides free directory services for users within ViDeNet zones. In the event that you do not wish to use this directory, please type in the name of the directory you wish to provide for your users.

28. ViDeNet provides generic dialing directions for users within ViDeNet zones. In the event that you do not wish to use these dialing directions, please type in the name of the directions you wish to provide for your users.

30. You may wish to provide additional resources for users within your zone (MCUs, etc.). In the event that you do, please provide a name for a resource you are providing, such as 'Primary MCU'.

36. This field is reserved for future use. In the event that you maintain an LDAP directory, please enter the URI of your LDAP server. Example: ldap://ldap.myserver.edu/dc=internet2,dc=edu?
37. Each ViDeNet zone requires a unique zone prefix (somewhat analogous to an area code in the telephone world). You may either use the assigned number that appears in the box, or you may select your own zone prefix. To select your own zone prefix, type in a number next to the "Try It!" button. If the number is accepted, then it will populate the field which will submit your actual zone prefix. If you attempt to select your own number for a zone prefix, be certain that it does not begin with '0' or '1' and does not end with '9'. It must be made up exclusively or numerals, and may be of any length.
38. Provide a domain name for your gatekeeper. This will require that you register your gatekeeper IP address with a DNS server.
39. Please enter the name of the manufacturer of your gatekeeper (RADVision, Ezenia, Cisco, OpenSource, etc.).
40. Please indicate the model number of your gatekeeper.
41. Please enter the software version of your gatekeeper.
42. Please provide the gatekeeper ID.
43. This field is provided as a place for messages to the users within a zone.
44. This indicates the number of days remaining before the user will be sent an email asking for zone information to be updated.
45. This indicates the number of days after the warning that (if the warning goes unanswered) the zone will be purged from the directory.
46. When you have entered information into all of the required fields (*), please click on submit. You should receive feedback shortly.
47. This indicates when the zone was actually created.
48. This indicates the most recent modification made to the zone.
49. If this box is checked, the zone has been approved by ViDe.
50. If this box is checked, the zone is active.
