ViDe Microsoft Working Group

Microsoft Collaboration Tools Testing and Integration

In it's first phase, the ViDe Microsoft working group evaluated Microsoft's Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server (ECS) architecture (white paper, 1.76 MB PDF) which is now a defunct product.

We are currently watching Microsoft's SIP server development with great interest and this group is a place to trade experiences and information. ViDe will be looking at these new products from the point of view of how well they meet the needs of higher education and research end users. Our evaluation criteria will continue to focus on:

o Affordability
o Scalability
o Ease of integration with the existing architecture.
o Performance.
o Adherence to standards (SIP,H.323 or IP multicast).
o Interoperability with existing ViDeNet infrastructure.
